Town and Country Polo Club Australia

The new Town and Country Polo Club was established in 2007 with as much emphasis on the social aspect of the sport as on its playing members. Very much a family orientated club, Town and Country strives to be accessible and inclusive, aiming to make polo fun for players and non-players alike. Throughout the tournament season, playing members (whose handicaps range from -2 to 5 goals) are matched to teams and all are welcome at the club's various social events.

A club youth sponsorship programme, the first of its kind in the region, has been set up to help foster young players wishing to get started in the sport. Town and Country charges a nominal annual fee for players under 17 years of age and operates 'kids polo' events in conjunction with the Hawkesbury's autumn and spring tournaments. Youngsters are given the opportunity to enjoy the sport in an unintimidating, fun environment and their parents' involvement in the running of these events is encouraged.

The original Town and Country Polo Club was formed in 1938, just before WWII, by Messers JD McLeod, GG Ashton, WW Horsley, Sir Frank Packer and JH Ashton (President). The Town and Country Polo Club book, compiled by the early club's founders, has been reprinted for our members. This little handbook contains not only the rules from that era, but notes on pony selection and pony training, as well as valuable tips on player positions by the great pre-war US player, Tommy Hitchcock (10 goals).

Town and Country Polo Club thanks you for your support and we look forward to working closely with the polo community for the benefit of all.
