Women's Polo
A big focus for Town and Country this year has been the launch of its Women's Polo initiative, which started in New Zealand in January with an Australian team taking on a South Island side. The Kiwis enjoyed a stong victory over the Aussies and it is hoped that the balance will be redressed when the South Island girls become Town and Country's guests later this year.

To coincide with Town and Country's spring 10-goal tournament, three Australian ladies' teams will take on the Kiwis on 22, 23 and 24 October, with the A-grade match taking place just before Sunday's 10-goal final. In preparation for the New Zealanders' visit, Australian Polo Captain, Glen Gilmore will run a ladies' coaching clinic, which will also facilitate the selection process, also to be managed by Glen. We plan for this to be the first of many Town and Country women's polo events and intend for it to be a prelude to Riverlands' annual international ladies’ tournament (taking place on 6/7 November this year) and an opportunity for Town and Country's female members to prepare.
Women’s polo within NSW and, specifically, the Hawkesbury region has grown dramatically over the past five years. We now have as many as twenty five local women regularly competing in the open polo competitions, each having earned her place in a mixed team. This requires a substantial financial commitment in order for her to maintain a team of fit horses and meet the various costs associated with playing tournament polo (such as green fees, transport to the grounds, etc).
